Wives and girlfriends are the driving force behind the majority of couples’ home moves – completing documents and liaising with conveyancers 52% of the time – research by My Home Move, the UK’s leading provider of mover conveyancing services, has revealed.
Analysing the usage of its online conveyancing service, eWay, which helps nearly 50,000 people to buy and sell properties each year, My Home Move has revealed that the majority of home movers choose to complete their legal paperwork between 12 noon and 1pm, for an average of 30 minutes a week, with most accessing their case through a smartphone or tablet – saving them the equivalent of £400 in solicitor fees.
Commenting on these findings Doug Crawford, CEO of My Home Move said,
“Our research shows that the lunch hour has become the moment of choice for home movers to complete their legal paper work online, and more often than not it’s women that are driving the property transaction forwards.
“Gone are the days of having to make an appointment to see a solicitor, take a half day from work and be charged an hourly rate for the privilege – instead savvy home movers are making the most of their lunch break to log in, complete a document online and then return to their desk to finish their lunch.”
My Home Move’s eWay service, with its accompanying app, provides home movers with the ability to manage their conveyancing from a smartphone or tablet. With milestone indicators, interactive forms and conveyancer action logs, eWay enables home movers to see exactly what is happening with their transaction at any time and from a location that suits them. Used by over 50,000 home movers a year, eWay is revolutionising the customer experience of conveyancing.
Continuing, Doug Crawford said, “It’s incredible to think how far the legal industry has come in the last few years, and how technology is shaping the landscape for home movers. The experience of buying or selling a house should be as straightforward as shopping or banking online and due to services like eWay, home movers can now fit their conveyancing around their lifestyle and work commitments, reducing the stress and increasing the excitement of moving home.”
