As I prepare to drive back down the M5 for Christmas, I’ve been thinking back on an incident which occurred this week – one I have never seen or heard before. The passion and ferocity people at My Home Move were debating which was their all-time favourite Christmas film – and whether Home Alone and Die Hard can be counted as Christmas films or not.
I must admit, the thought of Bruce Willis as John McClane and Macaulay Culkin before fame took its toll, don’t spring instantly to my mind when I consider my favourite festive movies, but for nearly a quarter of our film loving employees, Home Alone ranks as their top Xmas film, with Elf coming second and Die Hard third.
This may sound like a rather trivial issue to be reminiscing about, but in all seriousness I love the fact that it’s our differences that bring us together at My Home Move, especially at Christmas. We are all from very different backgrounds, with a multitude of faiths and beliefs between us. In total we number over 750, are located across the UK and India, and range in age from school leavers to near retirement. But the one thing we all share is a passion to make sure our clients receive the very best home moving experience possible.
And did you know something; the overriding theme within all our favourite flicks is ‘home’ – being home/getting home/protecting home/the importance of home/finding your home. So it’s fairly fitting that our most passionate debate all year should be about ‘home’; especially at Christmas.
So from everyone at My Home Move, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Stephen (who will be watching any other version of A Christmas Carol, as long as it’s not The Muppets, on Christmas Day)
