34 My Home Move employees raise money for the homeless and take on 26-mile challenge
May 18, 201734 employees from My Home Move, the UK’s leading provider of mover conveyancing services, will complete the 26-mile Malvern Hills challenge on Saturday 20th May. The trekkers will raise money for homeless charities and organisations across the country. The challenge, which includes 20 hills and an ascent of 4,358ft, will take the volunteers between 10-12 hours to complete, dependant on weather conditions.
Speaking ahead of the trek, Rob Gurney, Head of Legal Practice at My Home Move and Charitable Trust trustee, said: “We’ve been taking on hiking challenges since 2011 and every year we have a great turnout from staff, as well as more and more donations towards our Charitable Trust. We’ve taken on some of Britain’s most infamous walking challenges and having completed them all, I know it’s no easy task. I’m incredibly proud of all of our volunteers for taking part in the challenge and for their commitment to raising money for the good causes we support.”
After raising a record £25,514.13 in 2016, My Home Move has challenged its employees to raise even more for the good causes the Trust supports this year.
So far, over £8,000 has been raised for the Trust, which includes £6,000 donated by My Home Move’s introducer community (UK estate agents, mortgage brokers and intermediaries) through donations and a charity auction held at its Annual Housing Conference on Thursday 11th May.
Stephen Owen from The Bridge Homelessness to Hope, said: “Without the financial support given regularly by My Home Move, we at “The Bridge Homelessness to Hope” would not be able to continue to provide support to the homeless and vulnerably housed in Leicester. We give out over 300 meals a week, as well as facilitate various support groups. Having just moved into new premises, we are hoping to expand the services we offer so will be grateful for any money raised through the Charity Trek. On behalf of our guests, thank you to everyone taking part and donating.”
