£8,000 has been donated by local, leading law firm
April 20, 2017My Home Move has donated £8,000 in the last 2 years to Mustard Tree, a homeless organisation that operates across the Greater Manchester area.
March marked the 2-year anniversary since the UK’s leading provider of mover conveyancing services announced its support of the organisation. The donations made by My Home Move have enabled Mustard Tree to provide services including food parcels, soup runs and the Freedom Project, which allows participants to gain work skills and experience whilst working for the charity.
Speaking about the occasion, Rob Gurney, My Home Move’s Head of Legal Practice and MHM Charitable Trust trustee, said,
“The work that Mustard Tree carry out to improve the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves is nothing short of inspirational. The level of engagement they provide to their fundraising partners makes it so much easier for us to gain staff participation, making it a pleasure to be able to passionately and consistently support their efforts.”
Through the MHM Charitable Trust, My Home Move supports charities in the communities in which it operates, helping to combat homelessness through regular donations. Employees across the country, including those in Manchester, raise money through events such as an annual Charity Trek, fancy-dress days, charity coffee machines and payroll giving. Employees in Manchester have also volunteered at the centre, helping to prepare and serve food as part of the soup run.
Established in March 2014, My Home Move’s Manchester operations centre has grown to employ almost 25% of all staff across the UK. Employees at the centre helped almost 10,000 people to buy and sell their properties in 2016, and would be the 6th largest in the UK if it were a stand-alone conveyancing firm.
Continuing, Rob said, “The stories of the people that Mustard Tree supports have truly touched the hearts of everyone at My Home Move, especially our employees based in Manchester. Our people have raise money through various challenges and will continue to support Mustard Tree’s worthy cause for many more years to come.”
Since 1994, Mustard Tree has transformed the lives of people in Greater Manchester who are trapped in poverty or homelessness, by enabling them to gain the skills and self-confidence they need to reach their full potential.
Commenting on the milestone, Aileen Stirman, Mustard Tree, said,
“Dedicated support from My Home Move means we can plan for the future, knowing that we will have the resources to respond to the needs of our service users. My Home Move’s support this year could help 70 people who have been out of work, some for years, to come to our Customer Services Course, where they can learn the skills they need to help secure a job. Secure employment is the only real way to escape the cycle of poverty for good.
“My Home Move has set a real example of corporate support. Many of their fundraising ideas, such as how their staff make a voluntary contribution for hot drinks, is an idea we have shared with other companies who are looking for ways to support Mustard Tree. We look forward to working with My Home Move in the future and would like to thank their employees for making a difference to the lives of the people we support.”
