My Home Move works to create a new apprenticeship in conveyancing as part of Government initiative

March 5, 2014

My Home Move, the UK’s leading supplier of mover conveyancing services, is taking part in a national group working to develop a new standard for an apprenticeship in conveyancing.

The group is being facilitated by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), a regulator of legal services, as part of a scheme by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) to develop world-class apprenticeships.

The conveyancing group is aiming to develop the new apprenticeship so that the first learners can start in the autumn of this year.

Doug Crawford, CEO of My Home Move, said: “We are investing in the future of the conveyancing profession by supporting the development of a new apprenticeship and we are delighted to make this announcement during National Apprenticeship Week.”

“We rely on bringing local talent into our firm and apprenticeships are a brilliant start to an interesting and rewarding career in law, either straight out of school or later in life when candidates have developed skills and experience.”

“We already employ over 500 people and have recently expanded our company, opened a dedicated Learning & Development Academy and created nearly 200 jobs at our new office in Manchester. Having been involved with this initiative from the beginning, we are in an excellent position to welcome new apprentices to our company – the first of which we hope will join from October this year.”

The government has pledged an additional £40million to support participation in Higher Apprenticeships.

Chief Executive of the CLC, Sheila Kumar said: ‘“We’re committed to supporting the development of a diverse profession that delivers the services consumers want to the highest professional standards. So we welcome the government’s commitment to financial assistance for apprenticeships as well as their drive to support development of world-class apprenticeship schemes.

“As the regulator of Licensed Conveyancers we expect high levels of technical expertise and professionalism from all those involved in conveyancing to protect the consumer and the public interest.”

“We’re delighted to be supporting employers of conveyancers as they work to develop a new standard for apprenticeships in conveyancing.”

Matthew Hancock, Skills and Enterprise Minister said:“National Apprenticeship Week is designed to celebrate Apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.”

“We want to see Apprenticeships become the new norm for all ambitious young people, and employers who are dedicated to growing their own talent and increasing the skills base of the nation.”

“I would like to thank everyone who has been involved this trailblazer for their commitment to Apprenticeships and Traineeships.”
