My Home Move conference raises thousands for charity
April 24, 2013Delegates attending the My Home Move conference held last week, at the Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire (17th April 2013), helped to raise £7,000 for the Estate Agency Foundation, which supports homelessness charities in the UK.
Over 200 delegates from across the house buying sector, including estate agents and mortgage lenders, attended the conference, entitled ‘Let’s Do The Numbers’ to hear from industry leaders, as they shared their predictions for the future of the property market.
The conference heard from Ben Thompson, Managing Director at Legal and General Mortgage Club, James Knightley, Senior Economist at ING Direct and David Finlay, Managing Director at Barclays Intermediary Mortgages; along with well known industry speakers, Mike Day and Julian O’Dell, who spoke about how estate agents could make the most of the evolving market.
The event provoked lively debate on the state of the property market, as the key speakers introduced topics which questioned the position of Lender Panels, the Money Advice Service and how banks see the world today. A wealth of market knowledge was shared during the conference, including a predicted growth in the Buy-to-Let market from Barclays; while Legal and General predicted that some ‘normality’ will have returned to the market by 2017, with house prices growing by 4.1% between 2017 and 2027.
The conference ended with a Gala Dinner, Awards Ceremony and Charity Auction, which saw prizes including a ‘Day at Ascot’, causing a bidding war most estate agents would be proud of.
Bill McClintock, Chairman of the Estate Agency Foundation, said after the event, “I am delighted to have been involved in the My Home Move conference where a total of £7000 was raised for the Estate Agency Foundation. This will help us to combat homelessness in the UK. We would not be able to help as many people without the support of companies like My Home Move and the generosity of their guests at the Gala Dinner held on 17 April 2013. We are truly grateful.”
Speaking after the event, Doug Crawford, Chief Executive of My Home Move commented, “It’s been overwhelming to receive so many positive tweets and emails from people who attended the conference. The last time we held such an event was back in 2008, but we definitely won’t be leaving it five years until we organise another.”
