Dan could have been born an estate agent. Having worked in both the corporate and independent sectors, he knows how the business of agency ticks and his knowledge of the Southern region is unsurpassed. You cannot pull the wool over his eyes as he has “been there and done that” and he knows all the wrinkles!
What is your working history?
I’ve worked in the property industry for 8 years now. Before coming to My Home Move, I worked in various estate agencies, which comes in handy with my day job now.
What is your proudest moment at My Home Move?
Seeing how well everyone dealt with the Stamp duty change back in 2016. It was hectic to say the least, yet everyone pulled together and dealt with one of the biggest changes to our industry without moaning and with their heads held high.
Before working at My Home Move, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
Working for Sainsbury’s over the festive period, when the sales started – seeing the venom in people’s eyes trying to grab the reduced items. People were pushing and shoving over reduced pigs in blankets – it was just plain crazy.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself before starting your career?
The grass is definitely not always greener.
What is your favourite film/book and favourite quote from it?
My favourite quote is from the film Coach Carter, starring the legendary Samuel L. Jackson. “You said we’re a team. One person struggles, we all struggle. One person triumphs, we all triumph.”
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?
They would have to invent some excellent technology, but I’d want a young Brad Pitt to play me. Obviously, he has always reminded me of myself – handsome and witty!
Do you have a motto or personal mantra?
“Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try.”
What is on your bucket list?
I would love to do a skydive and own a house in Florida.
What is your biggest pet peeve about the property industry?
I don’t really like the way some people go online and moan about the competition. Instead, agents should sell against the competition and prove they are the best of the best.
What are your hopes for the future of the property industry?
We at My Home Move have seen a fantastic start to the year, so long may that continue because things are still tough out there. I hope that the market gets back to the record numbers of yesteryear.
