Mario Pitzioris is my Deputy. We have worked together for over 15 years and he has more knowledge of our systems than just about anyone else in the company. He has a reputation for getting things sorted, and is an invaluable help to the recommenders he works with, as well as his colleagues in the conveyancing teams.
What is your working history?
I’ve been with My Home Move since I graduated university, but I’ve gained a wealth of experience on my way up the ranks. I also spent a year working at Barnett’s Solicitors in Southport, where I got my first taste of account management and business development, working in the estate agency and financial services market.
What are your proudest moments at My Home Move?
That would definitely be winning the sales award for New Business and my promotion to Deputy Retail Distribution Director last year.
What has been the most unusual or interesting experience while working at My Home Move?
Most days at My Home Move prove to be interesting, as you deal with customers from many backgrounds, who all share different ideas on the property market and where it needs to be.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give to yourself before starting your career?
I’d say to enjoy the ‘milestone’ moments more and don’t wish your life away. It can be easy to always be thinking about the next step, so you really miss out on savouring the moment and enjoying the success.
What is your favourite film/book and favourite quote from it?
Training Day – “You gotta be a wolf to catch a wolf.”
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?
Bradley Cooper would be perfect. He comes across on camera as sharp and very funny at the same time, especially in the films Hangover and Limitless. I like to believe I am similar in that regard! Oh and clearly the good looks!
Do you have a motto or personal mantra?
It’s not so much a motto, but rather advice; “play with the cards you’re dealt”. I don’t think anyone gets very far in life by dwelling on what could be, or how it could be different. We’ve got to make the most of what we have and use it to our advantage.
What is on your bucket list?
I’d love a trip to Barbados. It is somewhere that was originally on the honeymoon list, but we opted for Hawaii instead, so hopefully one day we can experience the Barbadian vibe.
What is your biggest pet peeve about the property industry?
Definitely the Leasehold process. Delays are typical in Leasehold transactions and I’m certainly not a fan of unregulated landlords and managing agents.
What are your hopes for the future of the property industry?
A more transparent process where more information is provided to a buyer up front, before they’ve even made an offered. This would greatly reduce the length of time it takes to buy or sell a house, and reduce fall-through rates too.
