“Of course I do not regret the Bond days, I regret that sadly heroes in general are depicted with guns in their hands, and to tell the truth I have always hated guns and what they represent.” Roger Moore
When Sir Roger Moore died last month, so did one of the Country’s greatest gentleman and humanitarians. He spent his life off screen fighting for the rights of children through his work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, as well as lending his support and name to many charities across the world.
James Bond has been my travelling companion for years. Whenever I’m on a flight I seem to find myself watching a Bond film or re-reading one of Ian Fleming’s novels. It’s not a conscious thing, it just happens. Bond represents the alpha-male – the one who gets the best lines, the girls and the gadgets. For a boy growing up in ‘70’s Belfast, it was a world of glamour and escapism which I was happily drawn to. Roger Moore was my childhood Bond.
But what I find most interesting now is how, in reality, strength has nothing to do with shooting guns or car chases, but how you live your life and what you leave behind.
Across the industry we are known for our innovative, award-winning conveyancing. We are the UK’s leading provider of mover conveyancing services – completing more transactions annually than our two nearest competitors combined. However, these achievements are only possible because our strength comes from our values and the people we employ.
Last month we unveiled our new ‘b’ My Home Move manifesto – a promise which we will live up to and deliver, on a daily basis. We are determined to revolutionise the customer experience of conveyancing by engaging and inspiring, building relationships, leading by example, delivering excellence and shaping the future. We are determined to be better, brighter, bolder and bigger for every customer, client and introducer we partner with. Like Roger Moore, we don’t want to be remembered for bravado or ‘show’ – our values run deeper.
Last month we raised over £10,000 for the charitable initiatives we support, we won accreditation from the ILM for the training we provide to our employees and we made a commitment to reduce fraud by implementing a secure voice biometrics system. These aren’t the James Bond headline grabbing moments which My Home Move is known for, but the values which make us.
