I have always believed that if you really love the thing you do, then you should do it 100%. I love being a CEO – its more than a career, it is what I do. I genuinely believe in My Home Move, its brilliance, its people and what it has achieved in the last fifteen years.
We have been at the forefront of an industry revolution since the day we started – transforming the way conveyancing is delivered to tens of thousands of people a year. No longer do clients have to wait on solicitors to transact on their home move, instead buyers and sellers can manage their home move using our eWay service on their phone or tablet, 24/7. We are the first conveyancing provider to invest in Voice Biometrics software in the fight against fraud and we are the only UK conveyancer to be championing the ‘AI’ revolution to see how it can speed up and simplify conveyancing for the benefit of clients. This is why I love my job.
This coming Saturday we are holding our annual Customer at the Heart Awards and Christmas Party. Over 450 of our staff from across the UK, as well as some special guests from our India office, will be coming together to celebrate what we have achieved over the last 12 months. Awards are presented to those who have gone above and beyond to ensure our clients, home movers and introducers alike, receive the best service possible. As a thank you we reward our winners with weekends away with a friend or family member. Locations vary and are chosen at random by the winner, but the positive impact it has on each and every one is exactly the same.
And this is also why I really love my job….
Last year one of our award winners was Sean. A conveyancer, who had maintained superb client-satisfaction scores, was constantly praised by clients for his diligence, care and expertise. Sean hadn’t been on an overseas holiday in nearly twenty years, and never on a long haul flight, which meant that when I was able to present him with his prize, trips to New York and India, it became one of my career highlights.
I’ve had people outside of our business question why we spend the money we do on rewarding our staff – and my answer is always the same. I love being a CEO, I love being able to say thank you to the people who make this company great and so, if I’m going to do it, then I’m going to do it 100%.
And for those who think in business terms, the ROI is invaluable and worth every single penny. All you have to do is watch Sean and some of his fellow winners to see why…..
